Announcement for private plantation owners/companies to cut off revenue flow to the military council

As a remedial measure against the speedy depletion of forest resources, granting permission to private companies to establish forest plantations has been initiated since 2006 with the aim to promote the private sector involvement in forest conservation, apart from the establishment of state-owned forest plantations.

Over 14 million acres of forest land has been granted in order to establish private plantations with teak, hardwood, and industrial plants by the end of the year 2020.

Our sincere thanks go to these private plantation owners/companies who contribute to the increase of the forest cover of the country.

It is crystal clear that military council who staged an illegal coup on 1st Feb 2021 have been committing atrocities against its own people of Myanmar including young children by using the weapon and other artilleries bought with revenue given by its people.

Therefore, failing to pay land lease fees mentioned in minutes of the meeting held on 21 May 2021 by the Forest Department under the control of the military council, is considered to be helpful in protecting many lives of the country and an act in involving civil disobedience movement (CDM) against the military regime.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation of the National Unity Government (MONREC-NUG) hereby announces that the Ministry strongly rejects revenue collection for the terrorist military council, by misusing public property, and warns that all departmental heads who lead this activities and associated staff will be blacklisted for their misconduct of public properties, and revenue and will be held accountable for it.

The Ministry would like to urge private plantation owners/companies not to pay lease fees, and announces that the Ministry will review if the land leased is revoked, and the further action will be carried out in accord with the instruction of the MONREC-NUG.
